Cub Scout activities are centered around earning badges that are specific to each school grade level. This badge represents a rank. Advancement refers to the progress a Cub Scout makes toward their badge of rank. All of the activities for each rank are in the Cub Scout handbooks or in Scout Book.
Advancement Path
Lions (Kindergarten)
Children of Kindergarten age may join the Pack as part of the Lion program. To earn the rank as Lion, boys and girls must complete all the required adventures. There are a number of electives that may also be completed either as part of regular den meetings or cam be completed at home.
Tigers (1st Grade)
Children attending 1st grade are part of the Tiger program. To earn the rank as Tiger, boys and girls must first earn their Bobcat rank. This is earned by being able to say the Scout Oath, Law and motto; showing the Cub Scout sign, handshake and salute. Exercises in the “How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide”—Bobcat Requirements pamphlet must also be completed.
To complete the Tiger advancement, all required adventures must be completed and at least one elective. Additional elective adventures may be completed during regular den meetings or at home.
Wolf (2nd Grade)
Children attending 2nd grade are part of the Wolf program. To earn the rank as Wolf, boys and girls must first earn their Bobcat rank if they are new to the program.
